Nestled in the heart of York University, in close proximity to the esteemed Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence, lies York Sanctuary. This architectural structure serves as a dynamic educational tool, captivating students and visitors alike with its profound emphasis on the aesthetic qualities and versatility of steel construction. One of the most striking features of the church is its deliberate decision to expose the entire HSS structure on the inside. This deliberate design choice allows for an immersive experience, inviting onlookers to appreciate the intricate methods of connection showcased along the columns and arches. Inspired by the concept of motion, the design incorporates welded pin connections and elegantly "flowing" tension rods from above, further accentuating the dynamic and fluid nature of the space.
